I was a freelance ghostwriter for 11 years. Now those books are written by AI, and I’m working minimum wage at à liquor store and sleeping on a couch. I’m 44 years old.

Writing. I didn't lose it full stop but clients scaled way back. AI is still fairly bad at writing. But it is good at writing "good enough that I'm happy with this and prefer not to pay you", so the market is very different now.

I will be officially "displaced" from my job as a software test engineer tomorrow! They told us AI efficiency improvements were one of the main drivers of the layoffs. I'm thrilled though. I fucking hate that job. Clankers can have it.
